Welcome to the Nano Dimension of 3D Printing Circuit Boards
Israeli company Nano Dimension recently burst into the 3D printing world by offering the first working prototype of their 3D Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Printer at a special presentation in Tel Aviv and it’s called the Dragonfly 2020 3D printer.
The Dragonfly has a versatile inkjet deposition board for printing multi-layer circuit boards, while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Innovative software and hardware, along with special nano-inks bring a wide range of possibilities to research and development, custom manufacturing projects and prototyping. Conductive silver nano-inks are also available from Nano Dimension that make the PCB printing process even easier.
Nano Dimension’s engineers wanted to design a machine and a suite of nano-technology inks for PCB printing professionals and consumer electronics specialists that would allow them to be able to experiment with their projects quickly, cutting down on extra development costs. Also, to have the technology in-house to allow designers to go from the idea phase to the prototype phase of a project within hours will have an enormous effect on the electronics market. Eventually, this machine will save money on manufacturing costs and, therefore, lower consumer electronic costs, as well.
Check out this video from Nano Dimension exploring the Dragonfly 2020’s potential uses and explaining how the technology works:
The Dragonfly 2020 3D printer is expected to be on the market by 2016. As of right now, there is no word on the price point of this machine, but Nano Dimension plans to make the price competitive within the desktop market.
